Author's Notes: As always, thanks to my wonderful betas [livejournal.com profile] katestamps and [livejournal.com profile] totally4ryo! Incentive drabble for [livejournal.com profile] wendymr on behalf of the Shadow Proclamation with the prompt "Jack and Ten, nudity" ($35 bid, Doctor Who lot). I took a different route on 'nudity', however.

When the Doctor found out about the 456 incident, he was livid.

UNIT was the first to face his wrath; then the Shadow Proclamation got a lecture from the Last of the Time Lords about how Mucking About With Important Civilizations' Futures Was Bad.

He nearly tore the Universe apart looking for Jack Harkness.

Jack was just Far Too Important to just... disappear.

He found him on some run-down trawler, the world tilting on its axis as the Doctor approached. Angry words died on his lips when Jack turned and he got a proper look at the immortal's face.

He looked... old. So old. Like all of Time itself was on his shoulders. And maybe it was; had he never noticed, or had Jack hidden the pain away behind bravado?

"I'm sorry," Jack said, breaking the silence between them. "I just... Ianto..." His voice broke. "My own. Fucking. Grandson."

The Time Lord pulled Jack into a tight hug. "I know," he said softly. "I know."

As Jack broke down, the Doctor had a moment of complete clarity -- he was so hard on Jack because he saw so much of himself there.

And that scared the hell out of him.

*hug* Sorry, baby. I *did* think of you when I was posting it, though: "THIS NEEDS A THRACE WARNING!"

Awww *hugs back* Yup, it needed one LOL. But it was still really good. I don't mind seeing Jack grieving - when it's written by people like you - tells me he really did love my Ianto.
