Jack grinned from the upper level, watching Gwen walk around the Hub, taking down the Christmas decorations. Ianto had tolerated the festive cheer until 12th Night, when he declared that Christmas was over, thank you, and that the decorations had to go. And since Gwen put them up, she had to take them down.
Ianto turned up with a mug of coffee, watching Gwen fight with a string of lights. “I’ll give her about five more minutes before I go help her,” he told Jack in a conspiratorial voice.
The Captain turned and leaned on the railing. “I have a confession.”
“Should I get the collar?” Ianto deadpanned.
Jack’s mouth twitched up into a grin and his eyes glazed over for half a second while he went to La La Land. “I helped Gwen with her spring cleaning already.”
Dark eyebrows arched towards an equally dark hairline. “You did?”
Jack chuckled. “I think you’ll okay it,” he said, pulling a little sprig of mistletoe out of his pocket. It was one that Ianto had hung up in the Information Booth and they’d gotten good use out of it whenever Gwen went out for lunch.
Ianto smiled a little, watching Jack finger the red ribbon tied round the cutting. “What were you thinking of doing with that?”
“Bad luck for mistletoe to hit the ground,” Jack said teasingly. “I was thinking we could put it over my bed.”
“We’ll need a better ribbon.”
