Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok is an awesome anime and everyone should watch it. All you basically need to know for purpose of this story is that the Norse God Loki got up to some trouble (as per usual) and Odin turned him into a child and cast him into the Human Realm. I hope you all enjoy! Now if you'll excuse me, I have a book signing to get to.

On August 19, 1983, Ianto Jones made a very eventful entrance into the world.

He'd waited until after noon, of course, somehow knowing when his father was about to close up for a quick lunch. Beatrice had called her husband at work at 12:59 and informed him that he needed to get his Welsh arse over to the house because Rhia was getting her baby sibling today. Stephen Jones locked up, popped his head into the bakery next door to let the McKinnleys know what was happening so they could inform his customers, and drove like a madman to his house.

Traffic to get to the hospital, however, turned out to be the real nightmare. A lorry truck overturned in the middle of Newport, stopping traffic and clogging roads for miles. Stephen was already on edge with an in-labor woman next to him; when she let out a shout of pain at a particularly hard contraction, he jumped.

His foot slipped off the brake. The auto idled forward slowly, barely tapping the car in front of him. The tap didn't even make the airbags pop, but it still threw the Joneses forward. Beatrice moaned and clutched at her stomach. Stephen cursed the fact that they were in the middle of a block and couldn't try a side street.

The passenger door of the car he'd tapped opened and a small boy climbed out. He looked to be maybe ten, with a bob of ginger-colored hair and bright green eyes, but he just... seemed much older. There was an air of experience, of nobility around him.

Oh bloody hell, I've hit a royal.

He approached Beatrice's door and opened it. "Is everyone all right?" he asked, pausing when he saw poor Beatrice. "...Obviously not."

"I think this is it," Beatrice moaned, looking at Stephen. "He wants out, and now!"

"What?!"

The boy didn't even break a sweat. "Yamino!"

A young man got out from the driver's side. Something about the man -- Yamino -- somehow put Stephen at ease. The youth had a friendly face, eyes framed by a pair of wire glasses and long, black-brown-green hair. "Yes, Master?"

"I need your help," the boy said. "You and I will stay here with this woman while..." He looked at Stephen, prompting him to give a name.

"Jones."

"... While Mr. Jones finds a police officer or some other help." He gave Beatrice an apologetic smile. "Just a tourist, I'm afraid. Meeting a man in Cardiff tomorrow."

Stephen hesitated for a moment, a little wary at the idea of leaving his wife and unborn child with complete strangers.

"I've seen it done before," the boy told him. "And women just know how to give birth."

"I-I'll be two ticks," the young tailor promised before taking off down the street.

By the time he managed to find a copper and get back to the car, the deed had been done. Poor Beatrice was all but passed out from the pain and stress her body had incurred, Yamino was directing the slow movement of traffic around the two parked vehicles, and the young master was sitting in the backseat, holding the baby. The boy had sacrificed the long jacket he had been wearing to the birth, the garment wrapped tight around the newborn. As he neared, he thought he heard the boy speaking quietly to his son.

"Quite an entrance, I like your style. You, little one, shall be one of my chosen. You will be surrounded by chaos, and yet always come out of it, unscathed. Relatively."

He did kiss the baby's forehead before looking up, hearing Stephen approach. "Everyone seems fine. Congratulations on the birth of your son."

The infant boy shifted as Stephen carefully took his son from the boy, the cloak he was wrapped in wet from fluids the Welshman didn't want to think on too hard.

"Thank you. Thank you so very, very much for helping my family." He let out a little nervous laugh, looking down at his son. "I mean, I don't even know your name!"

The boy and Yamino exchanged knowing looks. "My name, Mr. Jones, is Loki."

-----

For those unclear of Norse Mythology...
* Loki is the Norse god of mischief, and sometimes chaos. He's a bad man, but he keeps things interesting.
* Yamino is also Jormungandr, or the World Serpent. He is also Loki's youngest son.

HAhahaha. What a spectacular entrance into the world, Mr. Jones. I have a horrible feeling that my kids are going to appear like that too or something very similar

*laughs* Oh dear, that would be quite an entrance. Tiring for everyone involved!

fabulous explanation for why Ianto always survives.

You will be surrounded by chaos, and yet always come out of it, unscathed. Relatively.

Well... that certainly would explain a lot about Ianto. lol Just hope it holds true about him coming out of the chaos.

[identity profile] gracie-musica.livejournal.com 2009-03-30 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
*laughs* Doesn't it? He's a lucky man... relatively.

[identity profile] katestamps.livejournal.com 2009-03-29 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
Wow. That's right up there with "May you live in interesting times" on the blessing/curse list. Poor Ianto. (And poor Jack, for being on the receiving end of some of the interesting.)

[identity profile] gracie-musica.livejournal.com 2009-03-30 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
*laughs* Yes.

And damn you, you're spawning a sequel in my head.

[identity profile] totally4ryo.livejournal.com 2009-03-29 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
This is what happens when you read too much manga. ;)
A birth worthy for Ianto, what can I say? I love it!

[identity profile] gracie-musica.livejournal.com 2009-03-30 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
*laughs* Anime version, actually. :P

*giggles* Thank you sweetheart!

Dear god... What's Loki up to again. He's suppose to eradicate the 'evil' from the hearts of humans, not going around stopping traffic by delivering babies and then naming them as his chosen! But it does explain quite a lot about our dear Ianto Jones.

You will be surrounded by chaos, and yet always come out of it, unscathed. Relatively Well... relatively since it would be weird in his line of job if he didn't have a single scratch on him. Maybe they'll put it down as Ianto being damn lucky...

[identity profile] gracie-musica.livejournal.com 2009-04-05 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
*laughs* He's a god. He can take a few minutes to name a favorite. ;)

And 'relatively' was more a "You'll physically be alive but don't ask for much more" sort of thing. *grins* And technically the reason why he's Torchwood is because he's a Chosen of Loki's

[identity profile] mystroth.livejournal.com 2009-04-05 01:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Poor Ianto. At least he'll be alive.

So the rest are not Loki's favorite as well right? ... Nah don't think so. Though I think there might be a few more running around...

[identity profile] gracie-musica.livejournal.com 2009-04-07 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Not explicitly Loki's favorites, but he does tend to smile on them more than he does normal people because they're favorites of his Chosen.

And why was my first thought when I read your comment, "A god's favor can be revoked at any time, Yvonne Hartman." Loki damn it.

Buahahaha! *poke bunnies* It's time to wake up bunnies~

brain explodes now.... I've never heard of the manga story, but I know rather a lot about Norse mythology and Loki and Hella in particular so my head - hurts - lots - ow - laughing - sort-of.

ok... that part out of the way. I like what you have started with this and the next piece (which I of course read first, stubborn wench that I am). I'm curious to see where you go with this.

but wow.. this description of Hella from the wiki on the Managa...
"Hel

ヘルHeru
Loki's only daughter, Hel is the goddess of the underworld. Portrayed as an adolescent girl with wavy pink hair, green eyes and glasses, and a strong obsession with her father, though the nature of it differs between the manga and anime. In the anime, she is seen to be trying to kill Loki at first as Odin told her that Loki and her brothers no longer care for her and hated her, thus, making her wanting to make Loki experience the same kind of pain she experienced. In the manga, she wishes to kill her father so that he will always be with her in the underworld."

um... there are no words... wow...

I think I really am going to have to get back to my Jack and Hella story and right another chapter just to adjust the imagery in my head rolf.

thank you for the new experience.

*laughs* MaLoki -- both versions -- plays fairly fast and loose with the actual myth, which is both good and bad if you don't know the original. I love things that twist myths about, so I'm a MaLoki fan. It's also why I'm such a CLAMP whore, and while I love BBC's Merlin. There's a good Merlin Norse Myth influenced story fic over on FF.N, actually.

I did write more in this little 'verse, Blessed Be (http://gracie-musica.livejournal.com/209648.html). *hopes you like that one too*
