Torchwood -- It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia

Title: It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia
[livejournal.com profile] horizonssing Challenge: Day Thirty-One
Date Written: 8/28/08
Rating: PG/K+
Word Count: 340
Fandom: Torchwood/Doctor Who
Characters/Pairings: Jack/Ianto, Doctor, Donna (mentioned), Rose (mentioned)
Spoilers: Up through The Stolen Earth/Journey's End
Warnings: None
Author Notes: So freakin' late it's not even funny. Fluff Friday for Auntie Teach that's not part of the Sonata-verse And I've never seen the show this title comes from, but it's pretty convenient.

And summer isn't a time. It's a place as well. Summer is a moving creature and likes to go south for the winter.
- Terry Pratchett, Feet of Clay

The Doctor wibbled, lower lip out and trembling as he looked skywards into the big fat raindrops falling onto his face. "But... It's always sunny in Philadelphia," he finally said, sounding for all the world like a child who'd just been told he couldn't have a biscuit.

From the open doorway of the TARDIS, Ianto and Jack both rolled their eyes. "Doctor, that's just the name of an American television show," the Welshman said.

"I swear I saw it on a tourism vid," the Time Lord protested, crossing his arms.

"That would be the planet Philadelphia, Doctor," Jack corrected. "The one that eventually got pulled into its own sun?"

"Always sunny would be an accurate description then," Ianto deadpanned.

The Doctor pouted again. "I wanted to take you somewhere fun," he said. "It's winter in Cardiff, and I still owed you two a thank-you trip for the help with the Daleks..."

Both Ianto and Jack had initially balked at the offer of a TARDIS vacation, but they quickly realized that the Doctor was still broken up over what he'd had to do to save Donna, still grieving over losing Rose again and still oh-so lonely.

So they'd said yes. And been swept off to a bloody rainstorm in Philadelphia.

"Time and space machine, Doc," Jack said, tapping the door with his hand. "A sunny summer afternoon, any sunny summer afternoon, is just ten minutes away. Pick a place and we'll be off."

"After you dry off, of course," Ianto agreed.

The Doctor gave them a long look before breaking into a grin. "I know a few leisure planets with nice beaches," the Time Lord agreed. He shook his wet hair out of his eyes and brushed past the two, heading down into the TARDIS' halls.

Jack grinned over at Ianto. "Those leisure planets have excellent hotel... accommodations for their clients."

"Considering the likelihood that we'll probably be spending over half our time in one of the rooms, that's very beneficial," Ianto replied, closing the blue wooden doors against the wet.

Ok, LOVE the planet Philadelphia (and of course, if there's a planet Barcelona, why wouldn't there be?) and the whole sun bit. And I love Jack editing himself mid-sentence.

Nice calm leisure planet full of beaches. What could go wrong? *evil grin*

DUH there's a planet Philadelphia. And I can never hear the name Barcelona without giggling.

Nothing there. Nope. Not a thing. Pack your trainers, boys.

aww... doctor, *pets him*
i really love all your fics. & ideas, very awesome.

i wanted to re-read some of your series (or maybe read for the first time) - but it's always so easy to miss something on lj. do you have some sort of a fic-masterlist or similar, where you've listed your fic (and series)? because that would be so awesome...

[identity profile] gracie-musica.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you so much! I'm glad that you enjoy my work.

Sadly, I do not have a master list. As that would require effort on my part and frankly, I'm not down with that. ;) I've been considering compiling a master list, I just, frankly, haven't been able to find the time quite yet.

All of my fanfiction is tagged by fandom, and in cases of series by the series title as well. Most of my past work is also archived at my FF.N and AFF.N pages (under the name Grace Musica in both places).

Also, if you have any questions, I'll be happy to let you know.

As that would require effort on my part...

*g* oh, i know what you mean (but it would still be awesome) - i'll be heading to ff.net over to read through your series again... cause i know i absolutely loved it/them (and i don't have to search through an lj there ;) )

but um, i may be ignorant, but aff.n? erm, i don't think i know where/what that is...

[identity profile] gracie-musica.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
AFF.N = adultfanfiction.net

[identity profile] tearful-eye.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
ah, thanks.
(heading over to there now, cause it sounds more interesting, *g*)
