And summer isn't a time. It's a place as well. Summer is a moving creature and likes to go south for the winter.
- Terry Pratchett, Feet of Clay

The Doctor wibbled, lower lip out and trembling as he looked skywards into the big fat raindrops falling onto his face. "But... It's always sunny in Philadelphia," he finally said, sounding for all the world like a child who'd just been told he couldn't have a biscuit.

From the open doorway of the TARDIS, Ianto and Jack both rolled their eyes. "Doctor, that's just the name of an American television show," the Welshman said.

"I swear I saw it on a tourism vid," the Time Lord protested, crossing his arms.

"That would be the planet Philadelphia, Doctor," Jack corrected. "The one that eventually got pulled into its own sun?"

"Always sunny would be an accurate description then," Ianto deadpanned.

The Doctor pouted again. "I wanted to take you somewhere fun," he said. "It's winter in Cardiff, and I still owed you two a thank-you trip for the help with the Daleks..."

Both Ianto and Jack had initially balked at the offer of a TARDIS vacation, but they quickly realized that the Doctor was still broken up over what he'd had to do to save Donna, still grieving over losing Rose again and still oh-so lonely.

So they'd said yes. And been swept off to a bloody rainstorm in Philadelphia.

"Time and space machine, Doc," Jack said, tapping the door with his hand. "A sunny summer afternoon, any sunny summer afternoon, is just ten minutes away. Pick a place and we'll be off."

"After you dry off, of course," Ianto agreed.

The Doctor gave them a long look before breaking into a grin. "I know a few leisure planets with nice beaches," the Time Lord agreed. He shook his wet hair out of his eyes and brushed past the two, heading down into the TARDIS' halls.

Jack grinned over at Ianto. "Those leisure planets have excellent hotel... accommodations for their clients."

"Considering the likelihood that we'll probably be spending over half our time in one of the rooms, that's very beneficial," Ianto replied, closing the blue wooden doors against the wet.
