DUDES.

SO REAL LIFE IS, LIKE, REAL. AND SHIT.

WHO KNEW.

I know I haven't been posting like I should. I have fics TO post. Hell, I have fics that are beta polished and just waiting to go up! I just... CANNOT FIND THE TIME TO POST THEM.

That's how crazy life has been.

Since last fall, I've been fairly... well, absent is too weak a word for how GONE I have been. I was finishing up school -- I HAVE FINALLY GRADUATED, THANK THE GODS -- and in the process of training to get OUT of the hellhole that was the old job. I was also a ML for my region during NaNo (which was awesome epic this year! LC REPRESENT, BITCHES). I participated in two [livejournal.com profile] supportstacie auctions, many fics I still have to post publicly. I sincerely apologize to the winners, who were nothing but supportive when I was late getting the roughs to them due to, well, REAL LIFE BEING REAL.

The fics are cleaned up, and will be posted this week. I promise.

Anyway, I've changed jobs and am getting MAD FUCKING HOURS, WHAT. It sort of eats my mind, thus the RAMPANT CAPSLOCKS. Apologies to those friends I've been texting lately (specifically [livejournal.com profile] totally4ryo, [livejournal.com profile] gingerlr, and [livejournal.com profile] amai_kaminari, and people who follow me on Twitter. I know it's been crazy, and I'm sorry. I'm still learning the boundaries of the body post-bypass. I'm torn between complete and utter exhaustion and zooming on caffeine these days. And crashing, too, of course.

I do not apologize to [livejournal.com profile] aikakone, [livejournal.com profile] correlle, or [livejournal.com profile] midassa_in_gold for the caps lock flail. They know I caps lock in Real Life.

Yes. You can do it. They can attest to that.

Now, about the job.

I LOVE THE NEW JOB. MY COWORKERS ARE SUPER SPECIAL AWESOME. THERE'S NO STUPID FUCKING POWER SKIRMISHES BETWEEN COWORKERS, OR BETWEEN US LOWER-DOWNS AND MANAGEMENT. THE NEW JOB IS FUCKING AWESOME. I LOVE GOING INTO WORK EVERY SINGLE DAY. I GET TO USE MY BRAINS AND PEOPLE LIKE ME. IT'S AMAZING.

There. Got that out of my system.

The good thing and the bad thing about the new job is that it, well, booms and zooms. Some days I'm super freaking busy and some days I'm dead for hours. I do have a yellow legal pad for my writing, but I'm Easily Distracted. Just ask [livejournal.com profile] totally4ryo, I'm sure she can rant for hours about it. So it's slow going on the fic front. For instance, I've had the next chapter of Slipping Through plotted for DAYS -- and when I say 'plotted' I mean 'I know who is going to do what' -- but just haven't been AWARE ENOUGH TO WRITE IT OUT. I've got, about, four paragraphs done in freehand. AND THAT'S IT.

Coincidentally, ignore any massive beta issues with [livejournal.com profile] totally4ryo or [livejournal.com profile] gingerlr's fics for the next few chapters. Just warning you.

On top of that, I'm having charging issues with my laptop. My charger keeps popping out of its port, so my screen pops off and on as it uncharges and charges in turns. THIS IS NOT NICE, TECHNOLOGY. So I've been working for about an hour (about as long as my battery lasts), and then reading actual paper books while it charges up. I finally found time to read Good Omens (which [livejournal.com profile] midassa_in_gold's Walkabout Man gave me last Christmas), so, of course, everything Pratchett and Gaiman is now on my ever-expanding reading list.

Tomorrow, I'm going to write. Even if it kills me.

Different Kind of Magic is plotted straight through in my head, so that gets worked on. AFTER Slipping Through. I've also got a few random pieces that popped up and want attention like needy little children. And, like a bad relationship, I've got original stories popping up to talk to me.

SO HERE'S THE TL:DR VERSION: REAL LIFE IS REAL AND I'M SORRY I LEFT YOU, INTERNETS. I WILL FEED YOU FIC TO PLACATE YOUR HUNGER. TOMORROW.

Now, for other things.

As anyone who's flipped on anything social media related lately has heard, there was a major earthquake in Haiti a few days ago. The story, of course, is still unfolding, but the bottom line is this: Massive, widespread destruction, deaths, and injuries. People have lost everything -- and quite a few didn't have that much to lose to begin with.

To quote Jon Stewart, "It's times like these, really, the only good thing you can say, is that whenever something this horrific happens, everyone comes together. Everyone."

That's where [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti comes in. Charity auctions for a good cause! People are auctioning off fics, videos, art, even things like baked goods, and all the money goes straight to charity. No, really. [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti is just a portal. You place a bid -- if you win (deadline's the 20th of January), you donate to a charity of your choice with a focus on Haiti earthquake relief, prove that you donated (I'm assuming it'll be forwarding the "Thank you so much!" email), and get your reward. Go check out the threads. They're super awesome.

I, of course, along with a fair bit of the f-list, threw my hat into the ring. I'm going to list their lots and link to them here. If you have a lot, leave the details in a comment and I'll edit this post.

I do want to say one thing about the charity effort -- well, two things:

One, it is seriously just so wonderful and astounding to see the outpouring of caring coming from my fellow man at this moment. I know everyone wants to give. However, I urge you to make sure that the charity you're donating to is reputable. Charity Navigator is a wonderful tool. And, of course, if all else fails, go with the big names that you know -- the Red Cross immediately comes to mind.

Two, and again, seriously just amazing. However, this is going to take years for Haiti to recover from. Trust me when I say this -- there are people still rebuilding here from Rita. This is going to be a long haul, so try not to give just once. Do it again, and again, and again. You're all generous people. Share it, and often!

And now, the lots:

[livejournal.com profile] gracie_musica -- One Mageverse Interlude. The winning bidder chooses a character (not Jack or Ianto, they're the main characters, crazies) and will get a back and/or parallel to the main story with the 'minor' character as the focus. Depending on how the bidding goes, I can be convinced to do two. For the friends of mine who want to participate but don't read fic (or Mageverse), I get to pick the character. You get the warm fuzzies from donating and my undying devotion. Lot thread can be found here.

[livejournal.com profile] teachwriteslash -- "Two fics of at least 1000 words in any of my verses except EI. Top two bidders!" She's writing in TW, DW, and Highlander. Lot thread can be found here.

[livejournal.com profile] cjharknessgirl -- "icons, wallpaper, headers for LJ, banners..." to the two highest bidders. Focus on TW and Brothers and Sisters, but I'm sure if you ask nice she can work something out. Lot thread can be found here.

[livejournal.com profile] bookwrm89 -- homemade cookies and candies (yu~um). Would prefer to ship only to the US (sorry, guys across the pond). Lot thread can be found here.

[livejournal.com profile] et_muse -- 1 fic of 750+ words. Has written in CSI, Roswell, TW, willing to write in Bones, Brothers and Sisters, Buffy, Charmed, CSI:NY, DW, Merlin. Lot thread can be found here.

[livejournal.com profile] totally4ryo -- Two fics of 1,000 - 5,000 words. AT LEAST, SHE'LL WRITE MORE, WHAT. AND BETAED BY YOURS TRULY, OF COURSE. MAKE HER WRITE SOME SLIPPING THROUGH. Her lot thread can be found here. (ILU!!!!!)

[livejournal.com profile] beth_mccombs -- Your fic as a PDF! Will do this for up to 5 people. (beth, I've started a bid for $5, if you don't hit your 5 quota, I'll at least double the donation for ya) Lot thread can be found here.

[livejournal.com profile] littlekuriboh -- "1 video involving characters and dialogue of the winning bidder's requesting - will list the winning bidder in the description." Yu-Gi-Oh, of course. Lot thread can be found here.

[livejournal.com profile] missthingsplace -- "Two fics of 1000+ words in any of my 'verses or a oneshot." Lot thread can be found here.

[livejournal.com profile] thefannishwaldo/[livejournal.com profile] smallwaldo -- "One 1000 word (or more, knowing me, more likely more) fic, written to your prompt. I have very few hardcore squicks, if you happen to hit on one of them, we'll talk." Fandoms are NCIS, NCIS: LA, Sports Night, and White Collar. Lot thread can be found
here.

[livejournal.com profile] cazmalfoy -- twothree 1000+ word fics, one in Dylanverse, one Assassin Ianto story, one Vampire Ianto story. Lot threads are here, here, and here.

[livejournal.com profile] xennie_b -- "A short fic based on whatever prompts/characters you choose from the fandoms below. Min 2,000 words, max 10,000 words, final word count will depend on how hard the plot bunnies bite and how much time I have to write between Uni and work." Fandoms are TW/New Who. Lot thread can be found here.

[livejournal.com profile] cyberdigi -- 1 collage. Lot thread can be found here.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] vipersweb has a complete TW fandom listing here, and [livejournal.com profile] epicproportion has a collection of their authors' offerings here.

GO AND BID, PEOPLE.
