Apr. 28th, 2010 11:45 pmSo I was going to write today...
... but HAMLET WAS ON PBS. David Tennant as Hamlet and Sir Patrick Stewart as Claudius.
My fangirl heart was aflame, I tell you.
It was seriously just fantastic. I'm a big enough Shakespeare nerd as it is, but watching Tennant run around -- barefoot for most of the show, crazy for a good half of it, and mood swinging for the rest of it. And the others! OH, they were amazing. Stewart played a deliciously devious Claudius. The women were just perfect too -- poor Gertrude and Ophelia were just spot on, and Horatio was perfect. Epic bromance between those two, too. (I bet the Shakespearean fangirls shipped it)
The only thing I kept laughing over was, well, the Ten-isms in Hamlet. Especially when he's playing at being mad. It was driving the muses almost to distraction, they were so amused. Another time they get completely amused is when I watch "The Producers" and "Springtime for Hitler" comes on. The TW muses laugh themselves sick at Unexpected!Nazi!Jack.
Anyway. For those that missed the airing, it's supposed to be up on the Great Performances website sooner or later. Hopefully sooner.
