You treat the reader to all the small adjustments Gojyo has made in his life... which really signifies his shift in attitude about himself -- putting his jacket on the chair, putting clothes in hamper, the careful grooming of himself -- all lead the reader to the same conclusion as Gojyo -- that in Hakkai, he has finally found a home.
And on Hakkai's side... becoming less reserved and more sexually adventurous. It seems like Hakkai and Gojyo have both taken on some of the healthy habits of the other.

The mirror thing... I always see Gojyo as what teachers call 'visual learners'. A lot of his apperance (especially during the part when he meets Gonou) is, well, visual. He takes great pride in his long hair, particularly, he's always clean-shaven and looks great. Hakkai picks up on this, and thus, the mirrors.
