Agreed. He doesn't want everyone thinking he's getting special favors from the boss 'cause they're sleeping together, and he also doesn't really want to rub it into Owen's and Toshiko's faces that he's deliriously happy with Jack (Gwen, I think, he takes a bit of pleasure in rubbing it in).
And yes, I feel sorry for Rhys and Gwen too. I think Rhys really, honestly, believes that Gwen's his other half, so it's all the more tragic that Gwen doesn't.
