Author Notes: Sorry to flood the f-lists tonight, but I really want to get a bit caught up.
Out from the silent portal of the hours,
When frosts are come and all the hosts put on.
Their burnished gear to march across the night
And o'er a darkened earth in splendor shine,
Slowly above the world Orion wheels
His glittering square, while on the shadowy hill
And throbbing like a sea-light through the dusk,
Great Sirius rises in his flashing blue.

“It is too bloody cold,” Gwen complained, wrapping the blanket over her shoulders tighter around her body.
“C’mere,” Tosh said, moving to sit closer to her coworker. After a few brief moments of rearranging, the two of them ended up curled around each other, sharing body heat underneath the thermal blankets.
“I think the thermos is over this way,” the former PC volunteered, sneaking her hand out from underneath the cocoon of warmth. Her skin was instantly assaulted by the frigid Welsh air, and it took her a moment to grab the thermos full of blessed Ianto Jones coffee.
They both drank straight from the thermos, giving half-hearted attempts at wiping the lip with the cuffs of their long-sleeved shirts before passing it to the other. The coffee wasn’t the scalding hot it had been when Ianto had packed it up, but it sat pleasantly in their stomachs and slowly spread warmth into their limbs.
“Why did we have to do this again?” Gwen asked aloud, fully knowing the answer.
“Meteor showers are the perfect opportunity for riff raff to come through,” Tosh replied.
“Then why isn’t Owen out here freezing his ass off with the rest of us?” Gwen grumbled.
“Lucky bastard drew the short straw.” Tosh let out a giggle. “Owen Harper is all that stands between Cardiff and total disaster.”
“God save Cardiff.”
“Amen to that!”
The two of them laughed for a moment, high and breathless from the cold. Tosh’s eyes turned upwards looking for the telltale streaks across the sky, but Gwen turned about and started looking for the lump that was Jack and Ianto. “Where are the boys?”
Tosh let out a questioning hmn?, looking over her shoulder as well. “Oh, I think they were on the other side of that little hill,” she said.
“They’re so shagging,” Gwen said.
“Nah, it’s too cold, Ianto would never get naked in this weather,” Toshiko replied with a grin.
“Who says they have to get completely naked?”
“Ooh, good point, but they would get all sweaty and that would be really cold.”
“You’re both wrong.” The deep Welsh voice made both women jump and look up, giving Ianto guilty smiles. “We’re going back to the Hub because the sky’s not falling in upon us,” Ianto said, his coat tails flapping in the wind.
“It’s too cold for outside shagging anyway,” Jack piped up. “Shrinkage.”
Ianto rolled his eyes as Tosh and Gwen burst into laughter.

Date: 2009-01-20 05:37 am (UTC)You do realize that I deal with that word more than several times a day when dealing with the DCs. Thanks, 'cause now when I see it, I'm going to start giggling like a mad woman, thinking of Jack. Especially when that word comes out of the Joliet DC.
It must have been cold for Jack to pass up making a comment of how they found Tosh and Gwen. *snort*
