It was the Worst. Heist. Ever. Kaito hated the very idea of it.

But when the Tokyo Aquarium announced the find of a huge pearl in one of their giant oysters, they basically painted a target on the roof.

Breaking in was easy; making his way past the fish tanks to the pearl was the hard part. He was covered in a cold sweat when he made it to the case.

He stopped when he saw that the case was full of water...

And a school of octopuses, suckers pressed flat against the glass.

Kaito shivered. Hakuba was evil.

Title: Cardiff
Written: 6/30/07
Rating: T for cussing
Fandom: Magic Kaitou/Detective Conan
Characters: Kaito, cast of the BBC's "Torchwood" (luv)
Notes: Giftfic for [livejournal.com profile] ickaimp for her The Grey Zone universe.

"Kuroba Kaito."

Kaito looked at the Asian woman across from him. He was in a dank interview room, somewhere definitely underground. He'd been pulled off the streets in Cardiff, blindfolded and brought... where ever 'here' was.

Saguru was probably having puppies.

"Male, Japanese," the woman continued in perfect Tokyo Japanese. Kaito could tell she was making an effort. She was probably from Osaka, like Hattori. He should drop that man a note, just to keep him on his toes...

"Aged 19. Son of the famous magician Kuroba Tochi, currently staying in London with one Hakuba Saguru."

His eyes drifted over to the other four occupants of the room: another woman--one of the ones who had grabbed him off the street--shortish, but well-toned with quick reflexes; a dark haired man in a labcoat who was chewing his thumbnail, one of the others who had grabbed him; a tall man behind all of them in a suit and tie, who had been the driver; and a brown-haired man wearing something that looked straight out of the American 20s. Kaito bet he was the leader, from the way he was standing.

"Mother still alive, along with a half-sister, Nakamori Aoko."

THAT got his attention. He whipped his head around to look at the Japanese woman.

"Also known as Kaitou Kid. Kid the Phantom Thief," she added in English for the benefit of her coworkers.

The Poker Face was the only thing that kept him from completely breaking down. FUCK. He was caught. And they knew about his whole family. Fuck fuck fuck...

Instead, he said pleasantly, "Impressive. Just add 'fluent in English' and you're set."

The five of them exchanged looks of surprise, but Kaito was completely resigned. Why lie to the people who knew it?

"If you don't mind, could I know your names? I'd like to know who captured me." And no, damn it, he was not on the verge of tears. Poker face!

"I'm Toshiko," the woman across from him said softly.

"Gwen," the other woman said, suddenly looking abashed for some reason.

After a long moment, the doctor finally volunteered a reluctant "Owen."

The driver gave him a soft smile. "Ianto. Sorry about earlier."

"And I'm Captain Jack. And you're not under arrest," the man in period dress said.

Even as the Poker Face fell to the floor with a crash, he noted that Jack was the only one without a British accent. He put his face in his hands for a moment, regaining his composure. He sat back and scrubbed his face with his hands. "So. What's this all about?"

"Your heist tomorrow," Jack said. Kaito finally recognized the accent--American.

"What about it?"

"You need to call it off," Gwen told him gently.

He snorted. "No way."

"Why not?" Toshiko asked.

"I... just can't."

"Well, just do," Owen snapped. The others didn't give him a second glance, so Kaito figured he was just in a perpetually bad mood. Probably needed to get laid.

"If I just do, I'll put a huge target on Cardiff. There are people after me who would find it very curious if I called off this heist."

"But you haven't pulled any jewel heists since Japan," Ianto pointed out. "Don't you think that's the curious part?"

Well, shit.

"It's dangerous, Kaito," Gwen told him. "People could get hurt. Killed, even."

He looked at all five grave faces.

"Just what the hell is going on? People don't get killed during Kid heists."

"This one they could," Jack said.

"Especially your precious lover," Owen sneered again. Jack turned to give him a warning glare.

Kaito's eyes flashed purple as Kid fought his way to the front. "One, leave Saguru out of this." His eyes reverted back to their normal color as Kaito pushed his alter back. "And two... we're not lovers." He was painfully aware of that. They were friends, of course, and he cared for the half-Brit, but... what were they, exactly? This was so confusing.

"Come here," Jack said, breaking Kaito out of his revere. "There's something you need to see. Ianto, if you will."

Kaito stood slowly, following the captain out. Ianto fell into step behind him. "Are you sure about this, Jack?" the man behind him asked.

"He can keep a secret." The grin was evident in Jack's voice.

They were led down a long stone corridor to a row of holding cells with glass partitions. As they approached the last cell, some hit the glass with a wet 'schlick'. Jack put a hand on his shoulders and moved him to see what was inside.

The... thing inside was definitely not human. It had tentacles and gills and was... damp... but it was standing on the mass of tentacles like they were feet. It turned its 'face' towards them and hissed, revealing rows of sharp shark-like teeth.

"WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?!" Kaito cried out, jumping back. The Poker Face was still back in the interrogation room, and the thing was far too fish-like for his comfort zone.

"We call them Tentacle Monsters," Ianto told him matter of factly, a grin laced through his calming Welsh accent.

"Not like the ones in hentai, though," Jack cracked. "These prefer to eat human flesh instead of sexing it up."

"Y-you don't say."

"They feed at night," Ianto replied. "Right where your heist is scheduled."

"What... What is it?"

"It's, well, alien."

He looked at Jack. "Who the bloody hell are you people?"

Jack gave him a charming, boyish grin. "We're Torchwood."

Rating: K+ for mentioning gay sex *giggles*
Fandom: Kyou Kara Maou
Characters: Gwendal/Gunter, Cheri
Notes: I owe a friend a TON of drabbles, and here I start... Gwen/Gunter is not my favorite pairing.

Cheri had the reaction Gwendal was expecting when he announced his marriage to Gunter.

She squealed in delight.

"Gwen! Did you propose?"

"Of course." He'd never tell his mother that he accidentally slapped Gunter during fantastic sex. Either way, he had been planning on proposing anyway, so it worked out in the end.

"Oh Gunter!" Cheri grabbed her future in-law's hands. "I'm so happy! We need to start picking out wedding dresses!"

Wait... What?

Gunter beamed. "I already have some picked out, I'm meeting with the seamstress today."

Gwendal felt a tic coming on. Where was his knitting?

Characters: Gwendal/Gunter (mentioned), Gisela
Notes: Two of... 19?

"So."

Gwendal paused in his paperwork to look up at Gisela. "Can I help you?"

"What happened between you and Father?"

"We had a--" he went back to his paperwork. "It's none of your business, Gisela."

She regarded her father's lover for a long minute. "You hurt him."

Gwendal blushed faintly. "I said it wasn't your business."

Normally, Gisela would bark out an order, but with Gwendal she took a subtler approach.

"Fine. I guess you want him to leave the castle. Again."

At that, Gwendal stood and hurried out of his office.

She snickered. Men were too easy...

I love KKM, although I'm more a Gwendal/Anissina fan, to be honest It's fun to play with Gwendal/Gunter, though. My Gisela muse keeps coming up with mean things to do to them.

I like Gwendal/Anissina, too! ^_^ There has\ to be SOME reason why Gwendal allows her to torture him. ^_^ *grins*

But ever since the episode with the kiss, I've liked Gwendal X Günther because they are funny together.

Gwendal is so uptight that he'd be a good foil for a lot of characters. ^_^

Yay! 58 muses! ♥ I just adore them as a couple so much.

The whole 10K (Tenpou/Kenren) connection just gives Hakkai and Gojyo that whole fated-best-friends-and-soulmates air about them. ^_^

Plus all the details that Minekura-sensei throws in: the complementary eye colors; Gojyo never could never win his mother's love, so he gets Hakkai, who is a mother hen; the fact that both of them are a combination of human and demon -- so only they can really understand each other; Gojyo always calling Hakkai "pretty boy" or "hottie"; how comfortable they are in each other's company... they just fit together like two puzzle pieces.

And I love how in Gaiden, Minekura all but states that Tenpou and Kenren are sleeping together. *grins*

(Can you tell what one of my OTPs are?) ^_~
