Title: Footnotes
Chapter Eight: The Feast of the Drowned
Date Written: 11/01/09
Rating: PG-13/T
Word Count: 1,000+
Fandom: Torchwood/Doctor Who
Characters/Pairings: Ianto Jones/Lisa Hallet, Jack Harkness, Suzie Costello, Rose Tyler, Mickey Smith, Tenth Doctor, Vida Swann (novel), John Crayshaw, OCs
Spoilers: Season 02 of Doctor Who, Torchwood 01, and for the Tenth Doctor Adventure novel The Feast of the Drowned
Warnings: None
Author's Notes: Thanks so very much to my darling betas [livejournal.com profile] totally4ryo and [livejournal.com profile] katestamps. I wrote this back on the FIRST DAY OF NANO. Seriously. But I waited because I was stumped on "The Stone Rose". It was one of my favorites to do. And it's pretty image heavy. Red ink is Jack being bitchy, blue is Ianto.

Summaries for the books can be found at Wikipedia, at the Doctor Who wiki, and at Doctorwhoguide.com.

Suzie,

Hartman should have sent us over the file we requested concerning the incident last month by now. Scan it, take pictures of it, whatever, just get a digital copy of it, then file it away.

I’ll be in London longer than I thought. She’s breaking our number one rule – do not mess with the Rift in Space and Time. I’m going to try to talk her out of it, but I think it’s a lost cause.

Are our kids playing nice?

Jack,

I am not an archivist. Bring back a pretty one with you and we’ll forgive you for being away for so long.

Tosh scanned up the information, it’s on the Hub’s computer. Owen’s being a prat. Do I have permission to take him to task if he smarts off one more time?

Suzie, play nice. Murder is only what these fools here at One resort to. However, if you must whip Owen, I demand that you record it on CCTV. It can be my welcome home present.

Working on bringing you home a pretty archivist. Any preferences?

Thank you so much! It was the perfect Ianto story, since it happened in London before Canary Wharf, and it was so much fun to write.

I like Feast of the Drowned, if only b/c I have the audio book, and DT does a fantastic Rose and Mickey impression.

He does a great Jackie impression in The Stone Rose, too. I love that man.

*will miss him but is looking forward to seeing what Eleven will be*

*nods* am cautiously optimistic towards Eleven. Will reserve judgment until I see what he's like.

I think he'll do well -- as much as they like to jerk us around emotionally with the storylines, the producers aren't all that stupid.

Usually.

Oh, I <3 my fandom.

me too. :) One of my friends got me a very dangerous pressie: a radio controlled Dalek. It rolls around on my floor, and says things like "exterminate." I've had to turn it off and hide the batteries so I don't waste too much time with it.

Lol. Lusting after Ianto already. If Jack had seen just how pretty he was, he probably would have kidnapped him and brought him back to Cardiff under duress lol

For proof of the prettiness of Mr. I. Jones, please observe exhibit A. *points to icon*

Wow...Ok I love how you have included Ianto's past into this story!

Two of my favourite moments:

"Torchwood looked the other way and let him go"...This may have been one of the only things they ever got right!

"Ant chance you can spare this Ianto kid"...Ok I can so see Jack sitting reading this (and complaining about the bad coffee) and then send this note on a napkin or scrap paper to Yvonne (who would look at it in disgust because of the messiness of it all)

I'm loving this series. More more more! Its so beautifully written and has some of the best moments that I wish I could make cannon!

Keep up the brilliant work!

A lot of authors make Torchwood London a lot like Yvonne -- alien, it's ours, especially the Doctor. Which is a fair point, but I can also see some of the lower Londoners looking the other way when he, y'know, SAVES THE PLANET.

And in my head, Suzie found the note and stuck it in the file because she got a kick out of it, but I like the idea of Yvonne tossing it out and someone else picking it up and sending it to Suzie for a laugh.

I'm having so much fun with Footnotes, seriously, it just takes a while to find time to read the books!
