*WARNING. THIS POST WILL BE IMAGE AND CURSING HEAVY. SORRY TO DIAL-UP READERS*

OH MY GOD I KNOW IT'S TAKEN SO LONG. It was all the pictures.

So... Friday! No, wait, Saturday. The days are jumbling about in my head, apologies.

SATURDAY.

We got to the con a bit late, and lots of staring at John was had. And coffee was handed over. WHILE RTD WAS THERE. We were hoping that they'd hand it over TO HIM, but they didn't. [livejournal.com profile] correlle, fiancee, her friends and I wanted to get to the Boondock Saints II panel, so we grabbed some lunch and then went and sat in line. We sat through the Umbrella Academy panel -- I had no idea the frontman for My Chemical Romance did comics. They're working on a movie, btw, for any fans.

By the way, if there are any Boondock Saints fans out there? IT LOOKS TOTALLY EPIC. Sean Patrick Flannery and Norman Reedus came out recording US with their iPhones. SPF had us say hello to his mother because "Otherwise she won't believe this". They showed the trailer TWICE, and Billy Connolly was being a delightful cad. Much swearing was had because let's face it, it's the fucking Boondock Saints.

Also, Rocco showed up. Completely independently from the panel. He got in line for the Q&A, and they pulled him up into the panel. Ron Jeremy was also there and answered a very pointless, roundabout question someone had asked him in a classroom lecture about ten years ago or something like that.

After the panel [livejournal.com profile] correlle and co went to go sit through the Mythbusters panel, and [livejournal.com profile] thrace_adams, [livejournal.com profile] aleja221, [livejournal.com profile] totally4ryo and I all went to dinner before trying to get into the Who/Torchwood viewings. We didn't get in, but we DID get pictures with a half-naked Roman Gladiator. Who told me I needed to go Sparta because I looked too hot in my suit.

We went to the Masquerade and had a few delightfully CRAZY conversations about slash and fic and scared people around us, but the shows were sort of lame this year so we went home early. The funniest one was a Muppets take-off, where they had the two old men in the balcony box make fun of the rest of the skit. I want to see a group do something like this one day, damn it. [livejournal.com profile] corelle and I suggested doing an MST:3K bit... We're thinking of a scene from Shark Attack 3 as the Experiment. Y/Y?

Sunday I woke up at 7 to a text from [livejournal.com profile] thrace_adams saying that the LINE FOR THE DOCTOR WHO PANEL HAD ALREADY STARTED. So after much cussing and running about like chickens sans heads, [livejournal.com profile] totally4ryo and I made it to the con. We separated because [livejournal.com profile] totally4ryo needed to get her Sunday pass (thank you [livejournal.com profile] cjharknessgirl!) and she met up with [livejournal.com profile] thyme_enough. WE ALL MADE IT INTO THE PANEL AND HAD FANTASTIC SEATS THANKS TO [livejournal.com profile] thrace_adams AND [livejournal.com profile] aleja221!

David was charming. Julie was sweet. Eros was... British (WHAT?! I BARELY REMEMBER THE GUY!!!) RTD was a smug Welsh bastard. We fangirled and yelled and got to listen to David in his full Scottish Glory.

The American Dad panel followed Doctor Who, and I love the way they do that panel: First they have the entire cast do a table read of the first act, then they show a storyboard version of the second act (with prerecorded sound), and the third act is the full animation. It's really interesting to see how the show comes together!

After that they did three back-to-back Indie film panels. Paper Hearts is a sort-of documentary about love. It's Michael Cera's new film, and because the actors on the panel pulled out a HUGE BLACK DILDO (no, seriously) I will go see it if it comes out in my town.

Mystery Team was the second one and looks wrong in the WORST best sort of way. Imagine the Scooby Doo gang minus the drugs and plus a boatload of naivete. Here's an image that'll stick with you forever: Used. Condom. Balloon. I think that sums it up.

The third Indie movie panel was about Eric McCormic's latest thing. They're doing a 50s homage-type movie, but a serious homage. Complete with rubber alien that's going to be completely disappointing the moment you see it.

THEN.

THE TORCHWOOD PANEL. Okay, Being Human was there too, but that's not what I was there for.

THERE WERE 'WE WANT IANTO' CHANTERS.

And I know there have been some grumbles among fandom over John's behavior at the panel? SHUT UP. No seriously. SHUT THE HELL UP. JOHN WAS FUCKING CHARMING AND JOHN BARROWMAN-Y (he flirted with the moderator like whoa) AND HE SAVED RTD'S ASS WHEN RTD STARTED GETTING MAD ABOUT THE IANTO PROTESTS. John just jumped right in and mentioned the Children in Need page. Which he totally supports, because he's John and it's something he'd totally be into. Anyway. John did an outstanding job with what was probably the most hostile panel ever. SO SHUT UP, HATERS. I know, I wanted him to get all indignant over it too, but the man's a professional.

At least John STILL HAS A JOB, amiright? He's not gonna fuck it up. And also, he gave me fic ideas. Shut up.

After the TW panel, [livejournal.com profile] aleja221, [livejournal.com profile] thrace_adams and [livejournal.com profile] totally4ryo stayed for the Buffy musical panel. I met up with [livejournal.com profile] correlle for one last go at the Exhibit Hall before they went home, and then [livejournal.com profile] aleja221, [livejournal.com profile] thrace_adams, [livejournal.com profile] totally4ryo and I went to dinner for one last huzzah.

Much collapsing was had when we were done.

Monday was my free day, and I really wanted to go to the zoo. [livejournal.com profile] totally4ryo stayed at home and recovered, while I went AND HAD A BLAST. It turned out when I went that they were having special extended hours that week, so instead of just being open until 5:30 IT WAS OPEN UNTIL 9. SO I DID EVERYTHING. I even got to see the elephant handlers/vets cleaning their elephants' feet. It was soooo completely awesome, watching these huge animals calmly lift up their feet and get pampered while they ate apples and other fruit as their rewards.

Oh, and they think one of the pandas may be pregnant, which is awesome.

And now... Some pictures. Which I won't post ALL of, because there are only so many images of panels that people can take, y'know? And sorry, some of them are blurry. Camera fail. Photobucket

I haven't read many posts about the con, but it's disappointing that fans are criticizing John for not being more upset over Ianto's death. Especially with his boss right there. I'm sure as much as he likes Gareth, his first thought is just keeping his own job.

hehe The guy you gave the coffee to on Friday looks scared out of his mind! *giggles*

YAY! Dalek! :D

I haven't read anything personally, but I have people on my f-list who've said they've heard fandom grumbles. John is not a stupid man. He's not going to rock the boat in front of a mob.

And yes, he was very nervous. It was precious.

Oddly enough -- I believe we did give a total of 9 packs over Comic Con. Me thinks RTD got his facts screwed up. Or it was easy to teleport those 9 packs across the Atlantic for his LIES.

I love that you gave RTD decaf. *giggles* He was such an ass at the panel. And I'm with you, people hating on John need to SHUT UP. He saved that panel from being a disaster. Julie and Euros hardly said anything and every time RTD opened his mouth he was being smug and irritating in his disrespect towards the fans. John's charm and jokes smoothed things over more than once I thought. Especially when RTD rudely said BBC only got 9 packets of coffee, and then John started praising those that were helping Children in Need. We all know that John thinks highly of Gareth and they are good friends, and the man is a professional it was clear he was upset but there wasn't much he could do. Okay that was a long post, sorry!

Besides that, John and David were just brilliant and I had a good time listening to both of them! And they had me laughing. :)

seriously? People are angry at JB? Hadn't heard that, but wow. Yeah, he can't exactly hate on RTD, even if he doesn't like what happened. Bad business if he did. Especially at a big con like that. Sometimes people are of the stupid. It will be interesting to go to Dragon*Con this year; GDL is coming, or so it was announced last week. I'm happy about that. Just hope it doesn't get too crazy.

Also... much love for the Dalek picture. Daleks are of the awesome.

well, I'll certainly be reporting re: Dragon*Con. It's the first time I'm going. I'm... both excited that GDL is going to be there and possibly cringing. I really, really, really hate fannish behavior, which, I know is odd, since I write fanfic and get involved in fandom on line, but there it is. Plus, I don't know what I'll do if GDL is at the same time as Farscape, b/c I think Farscape will win. 10 years since Farscape first aired. And most of the actors/actresses are attending. So... yeah, Farscape will likely win.

The local comic book shop had a big Dalek displayed about a year ago. It was very much of the fun.

I had forgotten about the HUGE BLACK DILDO! LMAO! I had totally forgotten about those movies...and you are right, the American Dad thing was fascinating and I don't even WATCH that show.

I think I've missed the JB hate...what's up with that? Are there people dissing John and why???? The man is the consummate professional about EVERYTHING. And I completely understand that - his IS his job, he has to market himself *scratches head* Please explain what people are pissed about?? I still love him AND Capt. Jack. *sigh*

THE HUGE BLACK DILDO MADE ME ALMOST PEE MY PANTS. It was hilarious.

They're all mad that he's not more upset over Ianto. Although Gareth has sad in a Digital Spy episode that when they made him tell John (pussies) that he did get upset.

Well let's face it by the time he did SDCC he'd had what a year to get used to Ianto being dead and Gareth being gone? I think between that, and some other things I've heard and reading between the lines in his interview answers...it's clear JB was not happy about that plot development and now he's just doing his job and being a professional.
