amai_kaminari for the encouragement and read-over! :D ILU JEI JEI! Anyway, since there are days like March 9 that are Sanzo/Goku in the Saiyuki fandom, I thought I'd try my hand at something similar, since this IS March. They're all slightly slashy, so feel free to interpret as you wish. Variety is the spice of life.
Made it in under the wire! And yes, there will be something on the 8th and the 9th too.
It wasn't that he hated Gojyo, exactly. It's that the bastard just fucking got under his skin.
He wasn't supposed to care about others. He wasn't allowed to make friends. Friends meant you got hurt when they left you, or betrayed you, or died. They were curses, more potent and powerful than any stupid scrap of parchment.
But Gojyo didn't operate under those rules.
There was a little part of his mind that said it wasn't fair, that Hakkai and Goku really didn't behave themselves either. Somehow being without Goku was like missing a limb, and Hakkai was quiet and unassuming and always there. But he had confidence that those two were actually capable persons. Gojyo gave the impression that if someone wasn't cleaning up after him, he'd die within the month.
He made him want to care for the little bastard.
So whenever the redhead started in with the monkey, he'd pull out the gun, trying to drive the guy away. But the masochist just kept coming back.
They all keep coming back, he thought dejectedly as the usual breakfast fight began between Gojyo and Goku. Sanzo's fingers curled around butt of the gun, and Hakkai let out a quiet hum.
"One of these days, you'll miss," he said, turning the page of his newspaper. Bastard wasn't even looking at him. Teacher radar, Goku called it.
"I'm not that lucky," Sanzo retorted.
He pointedly did not notice Hakkai's smirk when his aim went a little bit wide.
